PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project is based around the Solar System Vacation video conference and activity offered by the NASA Digital Learning Network. Please visit their website and register for one of their many distance learning events!
Step 1: Students will complete a pre-conference worksheet provided by NASA DLN. This worksheet assesses the students' prior knowledge of space and our Solar System. Students will use the following links to assist in completing the worksheet:
Step 2: Students will participate in a video conference with NASA. This video conference will last 30 minutes. We will connect with NASA via Jabber and learn about all eight planets, the Sun, asteroids, NASA exploration within our Solar System, Astronomical Units, and more! Step 3: Students will be paired up and assigned a planet to study. Each group will then create a 1 page advertisement using Microsoft PowerPoint. The purpose of the ad is to try to persuade someone to visit their planet. Students must complete the Advertisement Organizer before they begin creating their ad in PowerPoint. The ad should include the following:
Step 4: Students will record a commercial for their advertisement. Students may use the Planning Sheet and Script to prepare. Note: If you don't have the equipment to record commercials, the students can create a Voki (talking avatar). Advertisement Web Resources for kids
